The four casualties listed below were all lost with HMS Newmarket which was sunk by UC-38 south of Nikaria Island in the Aegean Sea. Three survivors were taken prisoner, but 70 others perished. UC-38 was depth-charged by French destroyers in the Ionian Sea on 14 December 1917. Of her complement, 25 survived and 9 died. Its captain at the time of the attack on HMS Newmarket was lost with his new command UB-69 on 9 January 1918.
