The four casualties from this day were all lost when SS Dartmoor (2870 GRT) was torpedoed by UC-50, 35 miles southeast of Fastnet Rock, Ireland. The ship went down with the loss of 25 lives whilst on passage from Bone-Garston to Gibraltar with a cargo of ore.  UC-50 was lost after sailing for the Bay of Biscay on 7 January 1918.
